Everything started in front of a good granita (if you don’t know what a granita is, Google for it). It was a quite morning in Augusta, on the east coast of Sicily. Riccardo and Giuseppe “Peppe” were sitting on a coffee shop and having breakfast. It was late July 2016.

Riccardo had been thinking for a while to start an import-export company to offer great Sicilian products to the U.S., and Peppe –already a seasoned businessman– was looking for jumping in the international arena with his business.

The two friends decided to give it a shot and started working on a business plan, right there, on the breakfast table at the café. After three months of study and paperwork, “Regnum Siciliae Import LLC” was founded in Maryland. The company’s name recalls the Sicilian Kingdom of 12th century and so the company logo. Part of the logo design is derived from Fry1989’s work under CC BY-SA 3.0 license.

At this time, the company counts four member managers, Riccardo, Peppe, Sabrina and Sandra. Peppe and Sandra take care of everything need to be done in Sicily, such us buying, quality control, keep contact with artisans, goods storage, shipping and comply with Italian customs and regulations.

Riccardo and Sabrina do their part in the U.S., comply with U.S. laws and regulations, warehousing, distributions and bookkeeping. Regnum Siciliae has two warehouses, first one in Augusta, Sicily and the second one in Rockville, Maryland.

You’re more than welcome to visit our warehouse in Maryland upon appointment.
